My first grandchild is due in just under two weeks. I can’t wait to meet her!  When my daughter, Laura, was a baby her nursery was decorated in lambs so that seemed just the right idea for a shower theme.

Our menu consisted of chicken salad croissants, egg salad sandwiches, tomato, basil and mozzarella sandwiches, spinach dip, cheese ball (of course, shaped like a lamb), vegetable basket with dip (notice the lambs in the basket – those are sliced turnips cut with a lamb-shaped cookie cutter), strawberries and dip. All the food went very fast!

Dessert featured a delicious white cake with a caramel chocolate filling, with piped buttercream frosting to resemble lambs’ tails. We also served brownie sheet cake (Laura’s special request), powdered sugar donut holes (also lambs’ tails) and lamb and onesie sugar cookies.

One of the activities for our guests included writing special messages on “late night diapers”.

I’ve seen a lot of diaper cakes, but Dawn made this one and I honestly think it’s the cutest!
